We headed up the Fal river, crossing the passage of the Harry Ferry, and moving upwards until we found a quiet pontoon in the middle of the river. We tied up and over the next couple of days, we slept and rested, we took the dinghy up to the nearest village and had wondeful long walks, over hill and over dale, poking around the countryside, and meeting lots of locals. We even stumbled into tea and cake day at a local parish and were invited in to meet and greet. We thoroughly enjoyed it!
The Heron Inn is a magnificent pub, right at the head of the river.
Below, we’re heading up the Fal to the Heron.
It was incredible peaceful being on the Fal, and it broke my heart to have to leave so soon. I’d have loved to stay a good week, reading, exploring, walking the area.
